Wow! 2010 has given me so much more than I ever expected. I am not sure how 2011 could get any better, but I am sure it will. This past year I shot weddings, families, new couples, "old" couples, babies and bellies. Among all of these there was one thing I had never done, an Album Shoot. Christina Alconcel released her Debut Album "Deal With It". I had the honor of being the sole photographer for this album......what an honor.

This past fall I was also asked to shoot a kind of comedic calendar for the Sunshine Valley Volunteer Fire Department. That was so fun and for such a great cause. Also another first for me.

I know that 2011 will be bigger and better and I am very excited to see what life has in store for me.

I want to thank all of the people in my life. Without you, I would not be me, and where I am. I love my life, my family and my job.

A few of my favorite shots from this past year in no particular order;

Mother and son....so sweet.

Hiromi on her wedding day! Stunning Bride

Crystal in all her belly Glory!

baby Hayden, Finally asleep.

Cheyenne on her day of Prom.

Charlene and her son.

I heart faces; i heart pink!

I love this weeks pink theme....not only am I a lover of the color pink so is my 3 year old Lucy. In honor of my Mum, who is a breast cancer survivor, ten years this year actually, I dedicate this post to her.
I will never forget the day I found out Mum had "the C word". I could not even say Cancer....I was to be married in 3 mos, we thought there was enough on our plates already! We were wrong. My Mum is a strong woman and I knew that her strength, and sense of humor would push her through this.... Of course the love of her family too.

Mum, this ones for you! We love you! Oma, I am so glad you are here to see my children grow up!

Ok, so recently i ordered some headbands from Kristen Caldwell Photography. I just love them. I decided to take out my Little Lucy for a fun afternoon and a photo opp for me! This one of the favorite shots from that afternoon. Thought I would share it with you all! :)

I used lightroom to make my edits to this picture. I used Black and White High Contrast, thenwent and used the slide bar to adjust the exposure and the black. :)

Over at iheartfaces there are weekly contests for all levels of photography. This weeks theme is smirks. I love this theme it was really hard to pick but here is one of my faves from a recent shoot from this past summer.

I love love love the colours of the sky in this picture, so I had to use this one! If you have not been over to iheartfaces, I suggest you go check it out. :)

Cheers

I am SO EXCITED! Yes I am yelling! A couple years ago I started talking to a long time old friend all thanks to Facebook who reconnected us. We went to different high schools but we hung out a lot. We did many things, like playing pool, dancing to the Juke Box and singing every waking moment. Who knew that years later I would be blogging about where were are today.

Christina Alconcel is living the dream we had as teens. Her CD release is here. I try to get to as many of her events as I can but with 3 small children and 2 thriving business (distance too I might add) it can definitely be tough.

I brought my camera to the events and took as many photos as I could. It was fun and it was something new, I had no pressure and I could be as creative as I wanted. This was so fun.

I had the dream to become a singer, but never did I imagine I would be part of an album, especially the photographer. I mean, Ihave always loved the camera, but this is not where I saw myself.....I LOVE MY JOB!

When Christina approached me and asked me if the GAP could use the photo I took of her I thought, UM HELL YES! The gap wants to use the picture I took? WOW......little did I know this would be just the beginning.

Christina signed with Harte Music Productions just over a year ago. What a journey this has been.

The next biggest moment was being asked to photograph her for the cover and all its contents. WOW this was amazing. I know it was not just cause we were friends. Her family and friends all agreed I was indeed the woman for the job. They had loved all the photos I had taken at the events and even when we were just hanging out. She had told me it was never a question of who would do this, ME, Bluhr Photography! What an Honor!

I want to personally thank Mark Elliot Zuckerberg, because with out him there would be no Facebook and without Facebook I am not sure I would have started talking to Christina Alconcel after all this time. I also know that Bluhr Photography would not be the company it is today!

Here is a copy of the cover! I did this. WOW can't wait to show you in its entirety!

Alright, once again it has been too long since I put up a post. Since the last post I started yet another Home Based Business. I love it. Arbonne is unlike anything else out there.... but this blog is about my Photography, Bluhr Photography.

I have been waiting so long to tell you all about the surprise and unfortunately it was delayed. I am dying to get this up but i think it will be another week and a half before i can put it up.

Last year I had done a booth during the Midnight Madness in my small town. I have since had a few shoots from that event. One woman had won the Gift Basket and in there was a 50% off coupon, she was going to use if for her company's updating of their website. Her partner Peter called me this summer to set up something for his family, as he liked my site.

I met with the Baileys a few weeks prior to discuss what they would like and where we were going to take the pics. I loved the energy this family had. They are awesome. They wanted to a family photo before the girls we to head out in to the world. The youngest, Emily, was heading out to Victoria (UVIC) to Major in Theater, and Kyra was off to Colorado for a few months before heading to East Timor to start her internship, working for the President! Although, one daughter was absent from the meeting I just knew this was going to be a great shoot. We decided that we would take some pictures in the yard, some at the trails and just around the town.

When I arrived in the afternoon the skies were starting to spit. So, we decided to do all the pictures at the Bailey's home, some in the back yard, front yard, and inside as well. Here are a few of my favorites.

Okay, week after week I look at all the Fix it Fridays over at I Heart Faces and I always want to take the time, but it seems it always gets away from me. I made time this morning between feeding 3 children and loading my trailer with all the clean towels and such. I keep coming back over and over to do a fix here and there. Here is my favorite fix for this picture. This is NOT my photo, just my edit. I used LightRoom for all my edits to this photo. I used the B&W High Contrast, then manually adjusted the Temp and Tint.

Here is the Orginal
(not my photo)

Here is my first edit....

I used Lightroom for all my edits to this photo. I used the B&W High Contrast, then manually adjusted the Temp and Tint.

This second one I cropped in Lightroom and used the Pomegreenit action, Then adjusted the Exposure manually.

Wow that was fun, I will have to try this more often!
